Looking for a NYX Plush Gel Lipstick Review? We’ve got you covered with swatches, looks and as always our honest opinion.

I recently organized my beauty product stash–it was an endeavor that involved a trip to Ikea, hours of assembly and many more hours sorting. Getting my stash under control helped me realize how many similar products I own. It also let me see what colors or formulas are missing from my makeup arsenal.

NYX is a we heart this favorite because no matter what you’re looking for, you’re likely to find a quality option from NYX–whether it’s eyeshadow, blush or lipstick!

I’m personally a huge fan of NYX lip products because they’re cruelty-free and they have a ton of colors that you’d typically expect from an artistry brand (teal, gunmetal grey, metallic olive, to name a few), but at a drugstore price.

I’ve been very satisfied with most of the NYX products I’ve tried, and frequently buy their lippies. I found a lot of NYX in my stash.

I was really excited to receive the new NYX Plush Gel Lipstick ($6.99) to try–I was intrigued by the “plush gel” concept, which made me think smooth application and moisture. NYX also listed these as having buildable pigmentation. These lipsticks are available in twelve shades in slim color-coded tubes (gotta love being able to easily find the color I’m looking for!) I received four to review.

The NYX Plush Gel Lipsticks do apply beautifully–it absolutely glides onto your lips. No tugging whatsoever. And you get a ton of gorgeous pigmentation in just one swipe. I can totally see the appeal of these bad boys!

Here’s where they break my heart a little–they wear off quickly. I felt like as smoothly as the color glided onto my lips, it was gliding right off my lips too. This is slightly redeemed by the fact that these Plush Gel Lipsticks do stain the lips slightly.

The most disappointing part to me was how dry my lips felt when I wore the Plush Gel Lipsticks. While the formula itself felt plush, it felt like the lipstick was sitting on top of my lips and my lips were drying out a little underneath. (Worth noting: I don’t have dry lips.) However, I seem to be in the minority–most online reviews rave about how moisturizing the formula is!

I can totally see the appeal of these glossy, highly pigmented lipsticks, but I definitely won’t be reaching for them as often as I reach for other NYX lip products.

  1. Hmmmm, I have lips on the drier side, so these may not be for me. Lovely colors, though–I may pick up Foxy Love and see how it suits me.

  2. These felt great while swatching. It’s a bummer they don’t feel as good on the lips. But as you said, there’s more NYX to love out there!

  3. I love NYX as an option. They offer so many different products, so many colors at affordable price points. The Foxy love looks so pretty on you @lipglossandspandex
