In the darkest days of winter, we heart this presented me with a golden opportunity – the chance to test the Orogold 24K Exclusive Eye Kit, a trio of the most luxurious products I’ve ever laid my eyes upon.
I’ll get right to it and admit at $498 for the trio, this kit is not an option for everybody. But for those that choose to really invest in skin care, this Orogold kit could be your new gold standard.
The presentation of the kit, starting with the gold leaf box and gilded bottles, is opulent down to the tiniest detail. For instance, you know the little piece of plastic you sometimes remove from a bottle when you open it? Orogold’s version is a perfectly shaped, tiny leaf. This adorable touch was my first clue that Orogold is serious about wanting customers to “bask in its golden glow.”
Founded in Los Angeles in 2008, Orogold sells its product worldwide, with retail locations in over 20 countries. As you might guess, Orogold’s signature ingredient is genuine gold.
I was intrigued when I read that one inspiration for their line was the ancient healing practice of Ayurveda, so I did a little research. Ayurvedic medicine, which evolved in India, used gold in many ways – including skin care – to heal and beautify.
Orogold makes this ancient healing element the centerpiece of their line and each product is “proofed to contain 24k Pure Gold from Italy.” Besides gold, their products are infused with intriguing cocktail of ingredients including vitamins, botanical extracts, hydroxy acids and peptides.
The Exclusive Eye Kit consists of three products that work in tandem to improve the appearance of the eye area. Orogold claims that the trio is so effective, the results are like a “non-surgical alternative to a facelift.” You’ve got my full attention, Orogold!
24K Exclusive Anti-Aging Eye Serum ($178 purchased separately)
Just a tiny drop of this thick yet easily absorbed serum, containing Gold, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, and Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid), immediately gave the skin around my eyes a firmer appearance, blurring crows feet and laugh lines. I couldn’t believe how smooth my skin looked and felt after the very first application.
24K Exclusive Dark Eye Solution ($248 purchased separately)
This visibly golden cream is designed for daytime use under the eye and around the orbital bone. It radically brightens the appearance of dark circles while plumping the skin to blur the look of fine lines. Orogold recommends using the Serum on top of this product. Besides gold, the Solution contains Vitamin A (Retinyl Palmitate), Vitamin C (Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate), Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate) and Allantoin.
24K Intensive Eye Formula Cream ($178 purchased separately)
Besides gold, this cream contains Vitamin A, Green Tea, and my favorite de-puffing skin care ingredient, Caffeine. Orogold suggests using the cream in conjunction with the Serum, which is what I did. The cream is designed to moisturize and reduce the appearance of inflammation. I could hardly believe my chronically puffy eyes! From the very first use, they looked more rested and refreshed. Of the three products, this is my must-have.
After just a week of using this trio, my eyes definitely look refreshed. My fine lines have been nearly erased, and my puffiness is diminished. I don’t know if gold really has the healing properties that Orogold claims, but I can say for sure that as far as making eyes look younger, these products are stunningly effective.
Okay, and stunningly expensive, too. But at $498 for the trio (which is like getting the 24K Intensive Eye Formula Cream for free), it’s still a lot less expensive than plastic surgery. Orogold’s 24K Exclusive Eye Kit: good as gold.
