Why should celebrities be the only ones to have a bit of red carpet fun? That was the idea behind the post-Grammy event I attend last month hosted by COVERGIRL, Herbal Essences and Olay. With their latest and greatest products in tow, and makeup artist Jake Bailey and hair stylist Charles Baker Strahan to work their magic; they gave some lucky bloggers the chance to shine like stars too.

As with any event, the first step is the outfit. I paired the Yoana Baraschi Mesh Well Dress from Rent the Runway with my own Hale Bob heels and bold, gold accessories, for a look that had a bit of an edge.

Glam images, including ones from the Grammys the night before lined the Siren Studio halls and provided inspiration for primping.

But sharing our spotlight was definitely COVERGIRL Katy Perry. Ok, we were sharing her spotlight. I mean, did you SEE her at the Grammys? That lilac wavy wig alone slayed me.

We even got to imagine what spending some time with her backstage would be like; with her favorite foods and drinks lining the decedent spread set out for us.

But enough snacking, it was time for the primping to begin. First up, some time in the chair with Charles Baker Strahan. What an absolute sweetheart! We dished about the Grammys; which looks we loved and which ones we weren’t too sold on (I’ll never tell!) and he gave me a super informative overview of the TON of new products in the Herbal Essences Wild Naturals line. It’s broken into three collections depending on your needs; Rejuvenating, Illuminating and Detoxifying.

I fell instantly in love with the Rejuvenating Oil Elixr, which softens hair, strengthens to protect against damage and smells like Turkish figs and cassia flowers. It’s bonkers good.

While he gave me the prettiest waves my locks have ever seen, we bonded over our shared love for the Cleansing Conditioner from their Naked Moisture line. My shower hasn’t been without since I first discovered it. If your hair looks better on the second day AFTER you wash it – this is for you. You get clean but lived in hair, I love it.

Hair beautified, it was straight into the capable hands of Jake Bailey, who told me right away that I had “pretty blue eyes” and I declared my eternal love to him (internally, of course).

After a prep of the skin with the Olay Regenerist line, Jake ended up doing a look on me with COVERGIRL products that was similar to Katy’s red carpet look from the previous night. Which makes sense, since he was the one who created it; smoky brown eyes and soft lips. He told me he loved using browns on blue eyes because it always made them pop. After applying COVERGIRL’s Quad #705 Go For The Golds, he added their new Full Lash Bloom mascara which made my lashes super long, lush and clump-free (the formula has beeswax in it.) Insider’s Secret: Jake used his own driver’s license as a mascara guard! How’s that for a personal touch?

Once my lips got a slick of Lip Perfection Liner Pencil in #225, Beloved (which is as creamy as lipstick) and Lip Lava in Ooh La Lava, it was time for the shoot.

A celeb’s first stop at any event is the classic “step and repeat” – so too was mine. The photographer Kevin Hees was great, making me feel like I did this sort of thing all the time! You know, just another Monday…

The shoot ended with my head in the clouds, err, balloons, after a morning of first-class red carpet treatment. Even though I was only heading home to my linoleum. My dogs didn’t even ask who I was wearing!
