Shop ’til you drop! MAC’s new releases usually send me straight to the store, but their latest for spring, Shop MAC / Cook MAC, is giving me the strange urge to run to the… grocery store! Shop MAC and Cook MAC pay quirky homage to the most ordinary of chores in a way that turns humdrum into fun: a collection with a housewife theme (grocery shopping and cooking) featuring shades that “stay fashionable long after check-out.”
There is nothing everyday about colors like these, or the kitschy, colorful packaging, either. Each product is housed in a sort of double package, a regular MAC box with a colorful cardboard slipcover.
Woo Me, Enchantee, Scan-delicious
Kissable Lipcolour consists of five limited edition colors that come in a bright pink box that promises fun. We got a look at three of the shades, packed in long tubes (longer and skinnier than lipglass).
Enchantee is a cool, pale, opaque pink creme.
Scan-delicious is a bright berry red creme with opaque coverage.
I tested Woo Me, a flattering neutral nude that works well for daytime. Its little doe-footed sponge-tip applicator gives precise application of the creamy product, which walks the line between gloss and lipstick. There is really nothing glossy about it except the smoothness of the application. Once it glides into place, it’s a super-creamy, longwearing lipstick that’s chock full of pigment.

Watch Me Simmer, proudly front and center
Shop MAC Lipstick includes six limited edition colors packaged in neon yellow boxes. We got a look at four of the shades.
Watch Me Simmer is a bright coral with a tinge of pink. It has an amplified finish. (And I’m in love with it ~Stef)
Dish It Up is a sheerish berry plum with a lustre finish.
Watch Me Simmer, Naughty Saute, Quick Sizzle, Dish It Up
I got to test two equally gorgeous bright pinks. First, Naughty Saute, a blue-toned Pepto Bismol pink that’s the color of the season for a good reason: it’s bright and cheerful and looks good even on a warmer-toned complexion like mine. Naughty is a glossy cremesheen and goes on like a dream. I love it so much, I’m afraid I won’t be able to track down another tube because it’s sold out everywhere.
Next, Quick Sizzle, a bright matte blue-toned hot pink (almost a fuchsia) that also flew off the shelves at my local MAC counters. Bolder and more dramatic than Naughty Saute, it has an amazingly creamy texture for a matte lipstick, and, like all of MAC’s matte shades, wears for hours without budging.

Okay, we’re done SHOPping for now, and it’s time for the COOKing portion of this release.
Tendertones have appeared in several of MAC’s limited edition releases, but this is the first time I got to try them. I now understand what all the hoopla is about. Billed as a “next generation lip conditioner” and it really is! Even the box is extra-cute, featuring a pink and white checked cardboard slipcover that reminds me of a Barbie Dream House tablecloth. Inside, little glass tubs of… balm? Or is it gloss? It’s somehow both, and I don’t know how I lived without it! This gourmet glamour creation comes in four shades, and we got to see all of them.
Hot ‘n’ Saucy is sheer red. Convinced you can’t wear red? You CAN wear this!
Hush, Hush is a peachy beige with gold pearl. It’s super sheer, and just leaves a slight golden sheen behind.
I got two shades. First up is try Purring, the sunniest sheer tangerine. Bright in the jar, it adds just a hint of orange glow to my lips.
I also received Tread Gently, which looks pale gold green in the tub but goes on like a golden, shimmery glaze. It’s gorgeous layered over lipstick, but I like it best over bare lips.
Tread Gently, Hush, Hush, Purring, Hot ‘n’ Saucy
Tendertone has a velvety texture and moisturizing formula for deep lip conditioning. Features a light strawberry-kiwi flavor and SPF 12 sun protection, too.
My one minor gripe is the jar itself. I don’t like risking contamination by dipping my fingers into the balm, but I can overlook this when the product itself is so nice.
I’m no housewife, but Shop MAC, Cook MAC could bring out the domestic goddess in anyone. Push your shopping cart to the MAC counter soon. These savoury shades for lips are going fast!
Ok, who’s going shopping? And what looks will you be cooking up?

I purchased Watch Me Simmer when the collection first launched (I have bitter feelings about missing out on the awesome shades from the Iris Apfel collection) and I am so over the moon! This shade is such a great splash of colors, is totally flattering and can be toned down but still fancy. I’m a huge fan. I also love Tendertones. They smell so so good. I didn’t pick any up from this collection but I was very pleased to hear they were making a comeback finally!
They have a yummy scent too?! What’s it like? Sweet? Fruity? I seriously have to get my hands on these Tendertones!
@tyna , the Tendertones smell just like they taste: a light, fruity, strawberry-kiwi blend. Nice!
Yum – strawberry and kiwi! Thanks for info @turboterp – Melissa!
Watch Me Simmer will be great for summer… I don’t usually wear lipstick, but I’m really wanting to buy that. Woo Me looks fabulous–and this Kissable Lipcolor formula sounds interesting.
I tested out Dish It Up and I love it! It’s a beautiful cool toned berry and for a berry and plum fan, I have been very happy with it. It has a great creamy consistency and stayed on a lot longer than I thought it would. It’s a must have for spring, for cooler toned gals. Woo Me and Quick Sizzle look like hot colors too…I am loving this collection! Five stars from me!
Ooooh, I am very intrigued with the Tendertones! I adore balm/gloss hybrids and these colors are so summery. I normally am not drawn to orange-y shades, but Purring is just awesome. And Tread Gently has such a soft glow that it looks like a gold that will work with my complexion. Adding these to my MAC list!
Dish It Up looks gorgeous!! I love the cool berry tone. I hope that I can get my hands on a tube. MAC lipstick is just the best! Another great collection!!
I love the packaging for this collection, so colorful and cute. I’m also loving the lipstick shades with Naughty Saute and Dish it Up as my favorites.
Quick Sizzle is so awesome <3
Love these saturated-looking lipstick colors! Gotta get my hands on a Tendertone in Hush Hush or Woo Me, though for a new nude, since my HG nude is a thing of the past.
I tested out Hot ‘n’ Saucy and yes- you CAN wear this red! In fact it’s become my go-to everyday lip color because it’s just so understated yet finished, perfect with a quick slash of eyeliner and a few coats of mascara. The scent is so juicy, and while I have an internal argument over whether it’s watermelon, berry, or what I think strawberry kiwi sums it up pretty well.
My one gripe is that Tendertones are so soft that it can be hazardous. I was carrying it in my pocket and pulled it out to quickly reapply and nearly jammed my finger all the way through! You have to remember how easily it melts or you’re going to end up with quite the mess.
I still can’t decide which lipstick to get from this collection…!!! And I’ve never tried any Tendertones, but they look interesting.
I am IN LOVE with Enchantee. This is a staple since I got it for Spring. It looks great alone or over lipstick. It is much prettier in when it is on my pale cool skin than just looking at the bottle.
Ooooh…Watch Me Simmer is STUNNING…must…go…to..MAC…counter…ARG…
Okay, so I am the proud owner of Watch Me Simmer and it is THE balls. It is the boldest pink/coral shade ever to adorn my lips. It applies as a highly pigmented creme finish–I actually need to tone it down by blotting and then adding a gloss. It actually reminds me of a lipstick that one of my older cousins wore in the 80’s–I idolized her and always loved her makeup–it almost has a retro neon quality to it. In any case, this lipstick is a lot of fun! I highly recommend!
It is WRITTEN! Watch Me Simmer is indeed the balls.
