Sparse Lashes? It Cosmetics has your perfect mascara match

Hello Lashes! 5-in-1 Volumizing Mascara Review photos: we heart this

There are a few things that are so brilliant when combined together that you feel they’ve always been meant to be. Chocolate and peanut butter? Of course. Zombies and classic literature? Absolutely! Hot chocolate and a roaring fire? Yes, please!

Well, It Cosmetics has hit upon another brilliant pairing with their Hello Lashes! 5-1 in Mascara; not only does this baby take the place of five of your typical beauty items, it also has the marriage of a comb brush with a ball wand. (I know, RIGHT?)

Hello Lashes! 5-in-1 Volumizing Mascara

It Cosmetics, a line developed by cosmetics surgeons that combines medical grade cosmetics with anti-aging ingredients, is a huge hit here at wht. Therefore, I held Hello Lashes! to a pretty high standard when I was given a tube to test – and I can say that I was not let down.

Currently a QVC exclusive Hello Lashes! Mascara ($29 for two tubes) does quintuple duty, all the while being cruelty and paraben- free.

For starters, this is a mascara with a silky smooth formula that doesn’t clump when applying or flake when wearing.

Secondly, it’s a volumizing lash primer that uses anti-aging vitamins, amino acids and anti-oxidants such as acai and green tea to plump, thicken and lengthen your lashes to satisfy even your pickiest mascara snob.

Third, Hello Lashes! has It Cosmetics’s Grow-luxe complex that uses peptides and apple stem cells to turn the mascara into a growth enhancing serum that conditions and encourages lash growth while you wear it.

Benefit four in this little powerhouse is it’s lash tint properties; Hello Lashes! is a deep inky black that, when removed, leaves a subtle stain on lighter lashes!

Magic Wand Lash Ball Detailer

And finally, but my favorite part of all, this baby has an exclusive Magic Wand Lash Ball Detailer, which combines a standard lash comb wand with a ball wand; allowing you to get each and every single little lash, no matter how wee!

So what did I think? I think I’m a little in love. As if the fantastic Magic Wand wasn’t enough, Hello Lashes! has a foam comfort grip that allows you to really hold that wand and get into those sneaky little lashes. It’s one of those subtle additions that take a good product into the great category.

The formula was smooth and applied easily; it thickened, lengthened and lifted my lashes. It’s also buildable – a necessity for me. My lashes are black already so I wasn’t able to test the lash stain, but I still find it very intriguing. (Would that be a selling point for any of you lighter lashed ladies?)

My only hesitation with this incredible mascara is that this formula is NOT waterproof. That’s not a personal deal-breaker for me, but just a warning – this mascara will not survive a Sarah McLachlan ASPCA commercial. (You know the one…)

Pros:
The wand
Lovely, buildable formula with no clumping
The wand
Paraben- and cruelty free
The wand
Long-wearing and soft without flaking.
THE WAND!

Cons:
A little pricier than standard mascaras
Not waterproof
Only comes in pitch black

As you can tell, I’m a fan of Hello Lashes! from It cosmetics. Like the lovely pairings of macaroni and cheese or rum and Coke, Hello Lashes! and I are a match made in heaven.

  1. Great post @lyssachelle!
You have me sold on this mascara already. The idea of having a traditional wand with a ball wand on the end is genius! And I love the foam handle..
    This sounds like a winner!

    1. Thanks! The handle is one of those things you didn’t know that you’d be in love with until you tried it; it really is comfy!

  2. Looks like a great mascara. I actually prefer my mascara to not be waterproof so this would be great for me.
    o

    1. I do too actually, but I was SUCH a waterproof girl when I wore contacts. Now, I find removing it a pain. :-)

  3. My love for Hello Lashes is still going strong! In case the review didn’t give it away, this is a five star product for me. :-)

  4. I also tried the Hello Lashes! mascara and had mixed feelings about it. I personally felt that the packaging was much too bulky. Although the foam padded grip was nice, I felt that the tube could have that feature and still be more compact in size. The wand design is a good idea, but I felt like it applied too much mascara (maybe if there were more bristles, and they were longer?). I had to use a lash comb to distribute the product, but once I did… DANNNNNNG. I felt like it really added some nice length and volume! And there was NO smudging or flaking. I do wish it were waterproof or more water resistant, as many of you have said. Overall, I’d give it a 3 because it takes a little more work to get it perfect (use a lash comb) and issues with the packaging.

  5. I am very intrigued by this product. However, I have naturally long lashes and sometimes I find that fancy lash enhancing mascara–just don’t work well.

However, I am a huge fan of IT COSMETICS. I believe they are true innovators in the beauty industry.

  6. Dang, not waterproof…that’s kind of a hard gamble. I mean, I wear CG Lashblast (non waterproof version) and I don’t get raccoon eyes…but when it happens it’s a sad, sad day. I like It Cosmetics a lot and I think their bundle price sounds rather nice! Pitch black is a-okay with me any day ;)

  7. This mascara looks like something from another planet. Like sci-fi meets torture device. I mean that as an compliment!

I love the squishy grip. I agree with @lyssachelle – it doesn’t seem like something you need, and then you try it and you wonder why all mascaras don’t have it. I don’t like the overall bulkiness though. It takes up a lot of real estate on my vanity.

The ball tip is genius. So amazing for really getting in there and grabbing little lashes. But I find it gets in the way when you’re trying to use the traditional part of the wand. I think I’d prefer it if it was either, not both.

I like the product a lot, a good formula that gives you great length, volume, and doesn’t flake. I can’t find one fault on it actually. But normally I don’t go for something that has so much going on. And I kind of feel like it’s a couple too many bells and whistles. If you have such a great formula, you don’t really need much more than that.

4 stars for me. Great product, but I would prefer more simple packaging (wow, I can’t believe I said that!)

  8. Add me to the list of “Why does this have a padded grip?! … Oooohhhh, padded grip!” It seems so totally unnecessary but once you start it seems so lux.
At first I had a hard time with the ball end of the wand. It gathered a lot of product and I tended towards applying too much product at once. It didn’t clump per say, but it did give me a slightly spidery look. Once I mastered getting just the right amount of product on the wand I was home free!
What I love the most about this mascara is that while it gives me super lush lashes (thick and loooooooooong) it also looks incredibly natural. I can wear it with just gloss, without needing a full face, and my lashes don’t look out of place. Perfect!
Now, while I love the packaging (the feel is just so… right) I’m also in the “I wish it was easier to pack/simpler” camp. I know, I know, I’m at war with myself and this packaging.
It Cosmetics is a fantastic company, and Hello Lashes! is no exception. No flakes, no clumps, and perfect application once you get the hang of it (super easy learning curve, I promise). I give Hello Lashes! 4 stars, half removed for packaging and half for the price point/needing to buy 2 tubes at once. Hey, if you don’t want the 2nd tube in your order, send it to me!

  9. Oh my! This is the first time I’ve heard about this product. I’m definitely going to try it out (if I can find it). Not sure why people are making an issue of the padded grip; seems like a genius idea to me. lol

P.S. “Only comes in pitch black” is not a con in my book. I love my mascara inky, pitch-y black. ;)

  10. I tested this as well and, overall, found it to be a serviceable mascara. To chime in on the padded grip convo–I love the idea of it, but in execution it made me struggle a bit to get as close to my lashes as I wanted to. The formula is rich and definitely added some oomph to my lashes; however, I did notice smudging an hour later. I’m excited to keep using it and see if I notice any overall thickening/lengthening, though. Three and a half stars.
