Spring Fashion Trends: Splurge vs. Steal
I have pretty much loved neon since the 80s. Is there anything more “Look at me, I’m here!” than a glowing chartreuse garment? It’s a party in a shade family, I’m telling you.
SPLURGE: What better to splurge on than an iconic designer piece? This Halston Heritage Sleeveless Drape Dress ($295) fits the bill. It’s made of crepe and I love the juxtaposition of turtleneck and miniskirt.
STEAL: You can get a similar draped realness with the re:named Maddy Slip Dress ($62), but at a much smaller price. It’s a twist on the classic slip dress, in both shape and color.
BONUS BUY: Both dresses (or anything else, for that matter!) will work with these Schutz Josseana Strappy Sandals ($170). Aren’t they amazing?
I’m not sure if bold bags ever go out of fashion. But there’s something about warmer weather that makes it more of a necessity. It can be a bright color or a fun shape, just make sure it’s not boring.
SPLURGE: Want to be guaranteed to have the most interesting bag in the room? Choose this Cult Gaia Eos Box Bag ($348). I love the vintage vibe. Side note: I scooped up many box bags at thrift shops back in the day. I feel very lucky when I look at this price tag.
STEAL: The uber affordable brand reTH is exclusive to Shopbop. This reTH Karter Bag ($99) looks way more pricey than it is, doesn’t it? Bonus points for being a crossbody; they’re so popular right now.

Can you believe tie dye is back? If you were around in the 60s, you must be cursing yourself for throwing out your old deadhead shirts; they’d be worth a fortune today! But then again, they were probably covered in Woodstock mud and patchouli, so…
SPLURGE: This Raquel Allegra Long Sleeve Tee ($223) is a modern take on tie dye, with the fancy price to match. But I love the Rorschach test look of it.
STEAL: For a more traditional rainbow hued tie dye the Lioness Palermo Blazer $104 fits the bill. Plus, a tie dye blazer is like a fashion mullet; business in the cut, party in the color!
