Milani’s newest batch of contouring and highlighting products are divine. As a beauty blogger, I try out a lot of products, and it really takes an awesome product to get me excited. But Milani–the affordable brand available at your local, humble drugstore–has been keeping me on my toes since 2012. That’s when I went from being indifferent to contouring and highlighting, to becoming slightly obsessed, thanks to the Milani Illuminating Face Powder in Amber Nectar.

It may have been my gateway drug into sculpting products, products which sometimes take a backseat to color products for lips and eyes and nails, which come in every color of the rainbow. But when I find a contour or highlighting product that works for me, it’s like the heavens have opened and angels are strategically lighting my features to look their best. And Milani’s newest products–their Contour & Highlight Cream & Liquid Duo, Strobelight Instant Glow Powder, and Spotlight Face & Eye Strobe Palette–give me that feeling.

Milani Contour & Highlight Cream & Liquid Duo ($9.99) – I typically steer clear of cream products. My skin can get kind of oily, I don’t like how it feels on my skin, and I find that powder contour products work best over the full coverage foundation that I wear. I’ve tried expensive brands and just was still pretty underwhelmed.

So I was not expecting to like this, much less LOVE this. I was genuinely surprised when I tried out this contour and highlighter duo and was impressed by how great it looked, how easy it was to work with, and how well it wore. I could totally use these for ‘natural’ makeup looks by sticking with the option closest to my actual skintone, or for dramatic makeup looks by going one shade deeper. I blended out both the cream contour and the liquid highlight with a clean duo-fiber brush, although fingers or even a sponge would work.

Milani Strobelight Instant Glow Powder ($10) – While these can be applied with a light hand for a natural look, they are so richly shimmery that they can also give you that a strobe effect worthy of Instagram. (There’s a saying, “The brighter the strobe, the closer to God”, or something like that, right?)

Honestly, I am pretty heavy handed with the highlighter, BECAUSE I JUST CAN’T SEEM TO GET ENOUGH. Even for everyday makeup looks, I will LAYER it on. But with the Milani Strobelight Powder, I swept the brush over the pan and then onto my cheek and went “whoa…” and then “YASSSS” as I tilted my face in the mirror to see the light shining off of my cheekbones. Also, these are fantastic multi-taskers too–I used it on my browbone and on my lids too!

Milani Spotlight Face & Eye Strobe Palette ($11.99) – While there are plenty of products that claim to work on both face and eyes, I haven’t found very many contour products where it actually works, and looks good. (Just because you can, doesn’t always mean that you should….) And when I saw some of the shades in the Spotlight palettes, I didn’t really think they’d work on my face OR on my eyes. But Milani, being the rockstar that it is, pulled it off.

The gorgeous, pigmented colors worked on both eyes and cheeks. I would have been a little humbled by being wrong, but I was too busy oooh-ing and ahhh-ing over how fabulous my face was looking–glowing and chiseled. My skin has been looking and feeling pretty blah due to the weather, so this was exactly the pick-me-up that I’ve been needing.

• Milani Contour & Highlight Cream & Liquid Duo in 02 Light/Natural (contour forehead) in 03 Natural/Medium (contour cheeks/nose, highlight browbone/nose/cheeks, and on lips under gloss)
• Milani Strobelight Instant Glow Powder in 01 Afterglow (browbone, eyelids, highlight cheeks) and in 04 Glowing (eyelid crease)
• Milani Spotlight Face & Eye Strobe Palette in 03 Golden Light (all three shades blended to contour cheeks; middle shade for outer V of eye) and 02 Candle Light (all three shades blended together as blush)

Any products that make me feel this rad definitely deserve five stars, but I also want to add that they’re super affordable, amazing quality, and I love that the lids are all totally clear, so I can easily see the shade inside. (Also… I accidentally dropped some of the palettes onto my wood floor, and they survived without so much as a chip! I don’t recommend trying this though).
