Sugarbomb – the latest Boxed Powder from Benefit

I’ve been obsessed with makeup and beauty products since high school, yet there was one item that just never got me too excited. Out of a mountain of cosmetics, I had one or two measly, gift with purchase, all purpose blushes. I have pale skin with a ruddy undertone (boo), which gives me naturally rosy checks (hooray). For the most part, I found myself spending my hard earned beauty cash on anything but blush. That is until I was introduced to Benefit’s Boxed Powders Collection. From my first purchase, Dandelion (a soft pale pink shimmer) to my latest testing acquisition, Sugarbomb (featuring four shades of glowing shimmer), these face brightening, flattering gems have been my one true solution for blush.
For starters, I adore Benefit’s unique cube shape and chunky paper packaging, which holds up for years and years. The bold and colorful graphics means these blushes can be displayed on your vanity or toted with pride (somehow that lid stays put in transit) and are also easily identified. SugarBomb features an abstract, modern-art swirl of colors – the very same hues you’ll find inside the box!
Next, like all of their square box blushes and bronzers, Sugarbomb contains it’s own teeny yet functional brush. Perfect, a dedicated brush for each color so you’ll never mix your cheek shades. Unless you want to of course! Custom blending is always good and the sheerness of this formula allows for blending numerous layers of any Benefit blush.
Which of course leads to the most important part, the actual blush. I found Sugarbomb had the same silky texture, sheerness and blend-ability that I’ve come to expect from Benefit. As a bonus, Sugarbomb has that same soft, sweet scent that always reminds me of, well, a fine dusting of sugar. Don’t worry if you have a sensitive nose – the delightful scent is only apparent when applying a dusting of powder and quickly fades away.
And finally, I am heed over heels over the perfect swirl of colors in my Sugarbomb box! As you’ll notice from my little collection of Benefit blushes (above), I’ve got a box of color for whatever the occasion. In need of a rosy glow? I reach for my old standby, still-a-lot-of-life-in-her, Dandelion, the perfect pink. If I’m feeling a little peachy? The soft, warm Georgia looks keen with my fair skin. For a bright pop of color that doesn’t overwhelm, I turn to CORALista both day and night. You’ll notice I’m drawn to the lighter hues; medium to dark toned gals may need something with a touch more color – check out Dallas to go pinkish bronze and Hoopla for full on warmth.
With the addition of Sugarbomb to my Benefit box o’ powder collection, I’ll never need to choose just a single hue again! This clever cube combines four bright, sunny shades, rose, shimmering pink, soft plum and peach. With the twirl of your brush they blend together perfectly for what Benefit describes as a “delicious sugar rush flush”. I call it a pretty, flattering glow with a few sweeps of powder AND my new go-to color for the summer.

I have yet to try Sugarbomb but I’ve been seriously crushing on her *hard* since she was released. It’s just so pretty!
*sigh* that’s it- your review has pushed me over the edge. I know what I’m buying this weekend!
Very pretty!! I haven’t tried Sugerbomb either.. I’ll have to stop by and see this too!
At the very least, I have to see Sugerbomb in person. I have the feeling it will be hard to resist!
The name alone just totally sucks me in here. Thanks for the great review, Tyna. This is definitely on my to-try list!
So pretty. I’m a sucker for pretty powders. Might have to add this one to my collection.
Sugarbomb is the…wait for it…bomb! (Sorry, I had to.) I too have a weakness for Benefit boxed powders, though not as big as @tyna (as a matter of fact, I think I may have gave her my Georgia, it wasn’t quite pigmented enough for me). Coralista is my favorite, Sugarbomb has quickly moved into 2nd place. It’s a peach-pink, blush/highlighter hybrid, with a good amount of pigment. And let’s face it, it’s just pretty to look at!
They’re expensive, but there is a HUGE amount of blush in these. (I honestly can’t even believe Tyna hit pan on her Dandelion!)
Any self-respecting blush lover needs this.

@stef – glad you said it – I cut it from my post -hee. It’s a good pun!I also almost titled the post Su-su-su-sugarbomb (like the Runaways song)but it didn’t look right.
Anyway, I love my Sugarbomb just as much as I do all my boxed powder blushes from Benefit. They smell great, layer beautifully and have the prettiest colors. The cute packaging is the icing on the cake.
Everyone go look at this adorable collection next time you get the chance – they are a great glowing product for summer.
