Dixie Bits Whippa Peel, Sweet Sugar Darlin and Rave In review

Dixie Bits Whippa Peel, Sweet Sugar Darlin and Rave In reviewphotos: we heart this

We are well into winter, the home of two of my biggest nemeses; snow and dry skin. There’s not much I can do about snow living in the Northeast. But I haven’t given up on the battle with dry skin, which attacks my face, feet, hands and legs.

Through this battle I’ve become a connoisseur of lotion. I had a staple lotion that never did me wrong, but it really didn’t excite me either. Then Whippa Peel came along, one of three products we got to try from Dixie Bits. Now, I’m excited.

This lotion claims to be a “multitasking mixture of moisturizers” that hydrates dry skin. I have to agree with that statement. My Whippa Peel Exquisitely Rich Moisturizing Body Lotion is one of the best lotions I’ve ever tried. And that says a lot coming from someone who has tried so many with mixed results.

This lotion somehow feels whipped and light to the touch but is completely moisturizing and rich on the skin. A perfect after-shave lotion for touchable legs with no greasy residue. The major problem I have with Whippa Peel lotion is that it is bad for my productivity. When a lotion smells this good it is hard not to stop and smell my arms.

The scent is strong enough to linger on the skin, but subtle enough not to be considered a perfume. The the ginger extract makes this a nice spicy sweet scent. Also included are ginseng root, almond oil, jojoba and shea butter. But it’s also about what’s not in this lotion, like parabens, synthetic dyes or scents and mineral oil.

This lotion is a little pricier than my old ultra-rich body lotion at $18 (8.5 oz), but for the scent alone it’s worth it to me. I could wear this lotion and no other scented products and be happy all winter long.

Dixie Bits Sweet Sugar Darlin Scrub

We also got to try Sweet Sugar Darlin Scrub ($30). You have to love a company that uses the word “darlin”! Turbinado Sugar is the base for this, with an intoxicating blend of coconut, sweet almond and orange, grapefruit and lemon oils. It smells as delicious as it sounds.

And Stef and Tyna both grabbed the Rave In Body Wash ($13) to test. Stef told me “when we get a mix of items, Tyna and I usually go in opposite directions with our choices, as we have different taste in scents. But neither of us could resist this!” I can’t wait to hear what they thought about this orange, passion flower and pomegranate concoction.

Dixie Bits is a gorgeous green company that is cruelty-free and vegan, which hits all my happy buttons. Review Team, what did you think of these sweet skin potions?

  1. My skin feels your East Coast winter pain, @lucylemonade , so your review really grabbed my attention. “One of the best lotions you’ve ever tried” means Dixie Bits is a line I need to check out pronto. Great post, darlin’!

  2. Wow, I haven’t heard of this brand yet but the products sound great! I definitely need to try that lotion.

  3. I am with you @lucylemonade !! This line is HEAVENLY. I got to try the sugar scrub. It is a thing of perfection and probably one of the best I have ever used. The mixture is coconut, sweet almond and orange, grapefruit and lemon oils is something I would drink, eat and put on my skin. YES! I do love this that much.

I do not give 5 stars very often and if the WHT rating system allowed me to give more–I would.

If you are looking for some great aromatherapy in a scrub–this is for you.

  4. I am SO HAPPY with my choice! Rave In Body Wash may just be one of the most delicious scents I’ve ever had the pleasure of sniffin’! It’s got that foodie, edible yumminess. But with a lush, creamy sort of scent mixed in. It’s hard to pinpoint, but incredibly good. I mean really: orange, passion flower and pomegranate – how can it not be good? It also has a really moisturizing, lush bubble. I’d pay twice as much for this, but I’m so glad I don’t have to. And I am SO buying the body lotion in the same scent.

    5 giant stars, LOVE this.

  5. That brown sugar scrub is wonderful. There’s a sweet meets spicy scent that makes me want to marinate my chicken or sweet potatoes in it…and still want to slather it over my body. It exfoliates beautifully, leaves my skin soft with no residue or stickiness, and the scent is subtle and not perfume-y. Lovely. No reason for less than 5 stars!

  6. These sound like they smell amazing! That sugar scrub sounds just up my alley, and not just because I love the word “darlin'”. :-) Plus, having just bought and HATED a overpoweringly scented lotion, Whippa Peel sounds great! Thanks for the review, @lucylemonade!

  7. Wowza – we have found a winning line here ladies! To be honest, I HATE coconut – at least the taste of it. But everything from this line had me at first sniff.

It was a hard pick (I really wanted to test out the Sweet Sugar Darlin Scrub – love the name!) but I could not resist the a body scrub) Rave In Body Wash – the scent is just intoxicating – kind of sweet, flowery and citrusy all at once.

And in the shower, the formula lived up to it’s scent. This body wash is super foamy and moisturizing all at once. It’s great for squirting into a shower puff and bubbling up all over. Love, love, love this body wash – so much so that I am not taking away any stars for the sort of pricey tag. Five big stars from me.

  8. First off, love the name of this line. The reviews sound like this is a brand I need to try. I LOVE lotions and you had me at whipped…sounds heavenly!

  9. Any lotion that smells so good that gets you to keep sniffing yourself all day is worth paying a little more! With all of these rave reviews, I’m pretty sure I HAVE to buy this.

  10. What a cute line! Yeah, I’m with you- any company that uses the word “darlin'” un-ironically is a winner.
Your description of this lotion has me hooked! While we’ve had an unusually mild weather (for New England) the change from 40degree days to windy and well below freezing is doing a number on my skin. I could use a pick-me-up in the form of ginger scented goodness!

  11. I love the dixie bits line of skin creams… the whippa peel body lotion has been the best for me to take care of my dry skin. This is a great review of a top-of-the line beauty creams and oils…
