How fabulous are these? Out of Print Clothing takes famous pieces of literature and their iconic artwork, and combines them with the fashion staple found in everyone’s closet – the T-shirt. The result, a wearable piece of art. And one amazing gift.

Order the recipient’s favorite book (I know a certain someone who would flip for this Outsiders tee) or the artwork that you think will speak the loudest to its lucky new owner (who wouldn’t love this one, A Streetcar Named Desire, designed by legendary book jacket designer Alvin Lustig, who studied under Frank Lloyd Wright). Me? I will simply die if I don’t add this Pride and Prejudice shirt into my life!

Best of all, hipness comes with goodness! For each shirt Out of Print sells, one book is donated to a community in need through their partner Books For Africa.

Shirts come in sizing for men, women and kids; plus they’ve just added sweatshirts. And each, with this beyond clever tag that looks like an old library card!

Where are you going to find such a cool gift, that gives back too, for just $28?

  1. I love this!! The book nerd in me is squealing with excitement! And I know so many people who would love these!

Also, the tags that look like old school library cards is probably my favorite part! I miss those old hand signed cards!

  2. These are possibly the coolest shirts I’ve ever seen! I love the Catcher in the Rye and The Outsiders shirts. Ooh, and On the Road! I have to make my Christmas shopping list pronto. Thanks, @stef!

  3. “The Catcher in the Rye”.. Oh, man that takes me back to my English class in 9th grade.. I think this would make a perfect gift for a few readers I know! Very cool shirts..they look like they’re made well. Like the backdrop too! :)

  4. OH boy, check out the website, I saw so many cool T’s and some really cozy looking fleece tops. They even have another favorite of mine, Rockwell Kent’s famous cover illustration of a madman’s epic war with a whale. MOBY DICK!!! Looks super soft!

  5. @irene – these do kind of transport you back to the first time you read the book, don’t they? I got a bit misty when I saw The Outsiders one (even though the art on that one is redone on that by a fab designer named Mikey Burton).

  6. These shirts are way cool and if we aren’t book nerds ourselves we must all know someone who would appreciate this whimsical gift. The tag is awesome too!

  7. I’m really eyeing the Brave New World & Animal Farm shirts. Nice graphics and good books, and they give to charity is an added bonus!

  8. OMG what a great find, and thanks for informing us about these awesome tshirts… I totally have a friend who would just LOVE that Catcher in the Rye shirt! And I have another friend who would think I’m the best friend ever if I got her that Pride & Prejudice shirt! And I kind of want to buy the Nancy Drew one for myself! …Ok, so my friends and I all are nerds, but we’re cool with it. :)

  9. I am IN LOVE with this website. What great Christmas gifts they would make! Especially for me… Time to send it to the hubby with a “Buy me this” subject line….

  10. I have been lusting after these tees for awhile. Thanks for reminding me @stef!! Great gift idea. And I totally need To Kill A Mockingbird.

  11. Seriously, how can I pick just one? I want so many, Catcher in the Rye, P&P, To Kill a Mockingbird and The Outsiders, just to start.

And the tag is almost worth the price alone! So cute, I miss old school library stuff.

  12. This posting came at just the right time! I’ve made a vow to get my holiday shopping done early this year (but I’m already cutting it close for Chanukah!) and this is the PERFECT line of shirts for my group of friends! Thanks @Stef !
