bareMinerals September Issue palette

I’ve been saying for the last few years that with the internet, style blogs and instant access to anything and everything; trends seem to be fading. Folks looked at me like I was crazy when I’d say that and then I read this article, In Fashion, Are Trends Passé?, in the NY Times. VALIDATION!

While I’ve never been a big trend person, I do love collecting all the September issues and watching the shows to see what designers are bringing to the table to help inspire my purchases and how I style my own closet. After looking through them all I decided to pick three fall must-haves for my wardrobe and I thought I’d share them with you too!

My must have makeup:
I’ve been obsessed with palettes lately and the bareMinerals September Issue icon palette ($40) is perfection in my book. I love the formula of the new pressed mineral shadows and the colors in this palette are just right. You can create a gorgeous colorful eye with a fall appropriate teal or an unexpected smoky eye with pops of magenta – LOVE IT.

My must have accessory:
Legacy Leather Duffle

I have to admit that I fell in love with a more expensive bag this fall. Coach is reintroducing some of their classic shaped bags (that aren’t covered in their logo) in gorgeous saturated colors. My favorite? The Legacy Leather Duffle ($348 – gulp) in a gorgeous shade of emerald green. It’s the ultimate classic statement bag that will last me for years to come.

If green isn’t your thing, that’s okay because they have 18 different colors that are so striking and bold they will perk up the most neutral of wardrobes. I am in love with this bag and they even introduced individual strap kits so you can mix and match your tag, tassel and strap to make it your own!

My must have article of clothing:

Mossimo Refined Peplum Dress

I mentioned that green is big for fall and that has me super happy. Another hot item I’m seeing in every magazine is peplums. While it may be one of those trendy things that comes in and out in a flash, I love it so much. It’s such a lady like and classic look. So when I saw this affordable dress at Target, I knew it was a match made in heaven.

The Mossimo Refined Peplum Dress ($27.99) is just what my fall wardrobe needs to add a bit of polish to my work wardrobe. This gorgeous deep green shade will look fantastic with deep wine color tights and chocolate brown ankle boots. I may even have to give in to the collar necklace craze and add a bold collar for my accessory to really make this dress my own.

we heartsters – I’ve shared mine – what are you adding to your closet this fall?

  1. @dwj1 – I bought this exact dress at Target a couple of weeks ago, same color and everything! I tried it on and loved it, but talked myself out of it in store, only to buy it online 2 days later! I couldn’t get the thought of it with bright tights and short boots out of mind. So…great minds think alike.

Love your other 2 picks too, I think you made wise choices!

  2. @dwj1 – OMG, I love that Coach bag. I covet it. I love the green shade and there’s a kick ass orange shade that I’m weirdly drawn to. I don’t think I’ll be able to convince the hubby that I “need” them, though :(
My 3 must-haves for Fall are:
Bobbi Brown Raspberry Pot Rouge—it’s a perfect deep berry pink shade that works on lips and cheeks and the colors are just deep enough for fall. I love a multi-tasker.

Fossil Stanton Traveler Crossbody bag–I picked this up in Saddle. I’ve been loving sturdy leather purses lately. I’d been on a Vera Bradley kick, but right now it’s all about leather for me. The hubby and I are hoping to go to Ireland late in the fall and I thought this would be great for that. It even has “Traveler” in the name.

Cashmere. Now is the time of year that I hunt down my cashmere for the year. I’ve already picked up some cashmere v-necks from the Gap (not great, kind of itchy, pretty colors, though) and J. Crew (25% off final sale items right now). The thing I want most is a dark green cashmere sweater dress from Neiman Marcus that I will kill for (it may actually come to that because it’s spendy). Btw, Neiman’s also offers plus size women’s cashmere. WOOT.

  3. @dwj1 , that Coach duffle has caught my eye, too. My only complaint: too many color choices, and most of them are gorgeous!

As for the dress, does it run true to size?

    1. I think it’s pretty true to fit. I’ve bought several of the ponte knit items from Target and they fit nicely and hold up well.

  4. THE COACH DUFFLE. (Am I the only one who hates bags with massive logos on them?) I want it in emerald, violet, black cherry and midnight, please and thank you.

I have pretty much NEVER been on trend with anything (I like to think I have a classic style, but it’s more a too lazy to change style…), but this year I’ve decided I need a good, fashionable coat. Something more tailored that I’ve proud to wear and that is pretty as well as functional. And sturdy, because I am hell on some outerwear… Dunno if I’ll find it before we get another giant cold snap, but I’m on the lookout!

    1. I am with you I personally do not care for the large logo on a bag. I have a vintage black Coach similar to this. I think it was called the Lexington bag. The only con is that bags made of thick leather are heavy!

    2. I hate large logos too! Although that’s mostly what you’re paying for… But this green Coach bag is so pretty.

  5. Love the Coach bag and the fun colors, maybe I can score one for Xmas!

  6. I really want to add crazy leggings and tunic sweaters to my fall wardrobe, they’re so comfy and can be dressed up or down.

  7. My fall must haves are cute jackets, tights, and calf-high boots. Fortunately, I have plenty of all of those! But since I’ve lost some weight, I’m in dire need of work pants and work-appropriate shirts. Also, some pointy toed shoes since mine are worn out. I have half a dozen pairs of peep toes but they’re not so good during fall/winter.

  8. Heh, all I want for fall are some maternity clothes that don’t make me want to retch and don’t cost an arm and a leg. It’s such a niche market, they KNOW they can charge an obscene amount of money for pants that fit. *sigh*

I LOVE that Coach bag! But deciding on a color is torture. (Fantasy) Solution: Buy them all!

    1. I like the way you think! If I could I would buy them all. I was lucky that my husband bought it for me for my birthday.

  9. The Coach bag is way out of my price range but the dress isn’t. I may have to take a trip to Target this week to see how it fits!

  10. Bright nail polish! I tend to wear darker clothes as a whole throughout the seasons, but brighter nails are especially my way of coping with the cold in the fall! I like to mix dark nail polish with bright colors to balance myself off.

I love nail art too. It’s a way of expressing my creativity without people thinking I’m nuts!

I really love the Vice Palette from Urban Decay. That is a bloody beautiful palette, and it’s perfect for fall smokey eyes. I love creative eyeliner too, and that palette just screams using the eyeshadows for crazy eyeliner looks!

Oh, and my one favorite thing about fall—BOOTS!!!!! I LOVE BOOTS!!!! Boots are probably my one big shoe vice. I have four in my ModCloth wishlist, and I can’t bring my self to erase three so I only have one!!!! I want them all! Boots, boots, boots, I love boots!
