By the way, this gorgeous palette is part of Urban Decay’s “Heavy Metal Holiday” collection, which also includes the VICE Metal Meets Matte Lipstick Palette, as well as six NEW shades of Heavy Metal Glitter eyeliner (one of my all. time. fave. beauty products), and all pair beautifully together.
Urban Decay Heavy Metals Palette Review
Let’s get right to it–Urban Decay wasn’t messing around with the heavy metals palette – it is hardcore metal gorgeousness.
The packaging of this palette is BEAUTIFUL.
The metallic purple case has a simple but eye-catching “crushed metal” look, and the inner palette with a large mirror easily slides out.
And I love that Urban Decay grouped together the more neutral shades on the right, and the more colorful shades on the left (compared to previous Urban Decay holiday palettes where the shades were arranged randomly).
Overall, it’s a very practical and aesthetically pleasing palette.
The Heavy Metal eyeshadow formula is brand new for this palette, and was developed to create rich, velvety smooth, highly pigmented metallic color.
While they’re technically pressed powder shadows, the feel of the shadows is quite creamy and soft (the consistency reminds me of MAC’s Electric Cool eyeshadow).
When used dry, they’re lovely on the lids, but these shadows REALLY shine when used over eyeshadow primer with a slightly damp flat eyeshadow brush (a little water will do the trick, or try spritzing the Urban Decay Pro Flat Shadow Brush with their All Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray!)

Each of the shades is about half the size of a regular UD eyeshadow, so this palette is a fantastic value, so even if you don’t use many of the bold bright shades, you’ll still get your money’s worth!
PS… even if colorful eyeshadow isn’t usually your thing, the brighter shades look rad smudged along the lower lashline when paired with neutral eyeshadows! F
