Parlez-vous Votre Vu? Oui!
There’s something elegant and charming about French things. The language. The food. The wine. The fashion. The architecture. It’s all just so beautiful, but in a way that isn’t trying too hard. It’s as if it’s saying, “But of course it’s beautiful, mon cherie! As if it should be any other way!” Votre Vu cosmetics could be described in the same way – exquisite and chic, without being gaudy or ostentatious.
Votre Vu products are hand-crafted in small batches near Paris, and are enhanced with carefully selected botanicals, such as jojoba oil, vitamin E, and kaolin clay. The result is a simple but gorgeous selection of products that help you to “Be well! Feel beautiful!” Even the understated but refined logo is very classic, as is the simple brushed silver packaging. The contents inside similarly work to take natural beauty and let it shine, without fuss.
Recently I tested three Votre Vu products including the Palette Play Eye Shadow Quad ($42) in Copper, which contains four lovely hues:
Linen – matte cream
Copper Suede – shimmery light brown
Indigo – matte navy
Gilt – shimmery brick brown
Palette Play Eye Shadow Quad in Copper – Linen, Suede, Indigo, Gilt
This elegant silver compact drew my attention first. The palette is perfectly sized and the four shades are complemented with a large mirror. The fact that there are shimmery and matte shades, and cool and warm shades is fantastic.
These eye shadows are finely milled and contains minerals, kaolin clay, vitamin E, and jojoba oil. And refill pans are also available! The color combination is a bit difficult to work with, and I did feel that I had to put extra effort into blending. But in the end I was pretty pleased with the results.
I also tested out two pretty in pink lip products including Lip Lustre Vitamin E Lip Gloss ($22) in Charming, a medium rosey pink.
This gloss has just the right amount of pigmentation to give your lips a bit of color while still being glossy. This is a great color for every day wear. Vitamin E and green tea extract have been added to nourish your lips. While I wouldn’t consider it drying, it’s not quite moisturizing either.
I also gave French Kiss Moisture Riche Lipstick ($23) in LouLou, a medium pink, a test drive. This is a very subtle, my lips but better sort of shade. There is a slight minty scent to it.
French Kiss Moisture Riche Lipstick in LouLou; Lip Lustre Vitamin E Lip Gloss in Charming
This lipstick pairs nicely with the Lip Lustre in Charming (I’ve layered the two in my photo). Plant waxes, vitamin E, and SPF 8 are added take care to pamper your pout. However, like the Lip Lustre, I didn’t find this to be especially hydrating, but I didn’t experience any dryness either.
Pros:
• Pretty, better than neutral colors
• Nice packaging
• 45 day satisfaction guarantee
• No animal testing
Cons:
• Not sold in stores
• Prices can be a bit high, although Brand Ambassadors get a substantial discount
For those of you who enjoy a subtle but beautiful makeup look, these products work well for that purpose, but you might want to give it a pass if you’re craving bold shades and intense pigmentation.

I love the colors in this palette, perfect for fall neutral looks along with the rosy pink lip. Sadly it is out of my price range but the pigments look great.
Your eye makeup is on point here! As for French products, I immediately think of a perfect red lip–by Dior or Givenchy…
@lipglossandspandex – Your makeup looks awesome!
$42 for an eye shadow palette…Daaaaaaaaaamn.
What was the staying power on the shadows?
The staying power is okay… the colors seem to get a bit muddy looking later in the day, even with primer. :(
They’re nice colors if you like neutral and simple. The concept and packaging are lovely, but the products themselves weren’t quite up to par. I felt like I had to work a bit to get the eyeshadow colors to blend and work together, and the prices are a bit high. There was no scent to the gloss or lipstick (I personally like a faint scent). I’d give these products three stars.
The color palette looks great together, perfect for fall. Too bad the staying power isn’t there on the shadows, but the lipstick and gloss are really pretty.
J’adore! And @lipglossandspandex – damn, girl! Look at those perfect brows! Impressive. :)
It’s true – the French are soooooooooooo fabulous, all around. I love that line, “But of course, it’s beautiful, mon Cherie”! Too funny! The copper is stunning – you are stunning! I was wondering whose perfectly made-up eye that was, and then BAM! There is your sweet face! Thanks for the review!
Aww, thanks @heather and @rachelshay! :)
You look amazing! Would you do my makeup for me (of course, I’d need your features . . .)
Thanks for the review. Vu has released more color complimenting shades.
