Those questions and more in The Lipstick League, week of 2.1.16

Question of the Week: Quick! Name the last palette you purchased. (Also: how’s it working for you?)

Answer: I FINALLY caved and bought the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette ($62), along with the other gorgeous items shown above. Why did I wait so long to buy this? It’s beautiful, like powder that’s internally lit. Now, to figure out how to properly use it…Seriously, if you have any hints, tell me!

Here’s what The Lipstick League was up to last week…

My Newest Addiction – Laura has been attempting to master correcting and concealing with Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer.

Nouveau Cheap – I have oily skin, but that doesn’t mean I shy away from cream blushes. Here are my top five drugstore cream blushes of all time (that all work beautifully on oily skin).

Olive & Ivy – How adorable is this soon-to-be-released Too Faced Peanut Butter & Jelly palette? LOVE!

Phyrra – shares the Cruelty Free Beauty Brands at Sephora! No more guessing!

Prime Beauty – discovered a darling new vintage style bath and body line at Anthropolgie called Mission Grove. Make sure to check it out!

we heart this – Pink, Red and Orange; all an option for Valentine’s Day! Our model is wearing Kat Von D Studded Lipstick and Everlasting Liquid Lipstick to prove it.

Beautygeeks – gets the scoop from Gisele’s hair go-to pro Harry Josh on how to fight frizz once and for always.

Beauty Junkies Unite – Fall in love with the Hello Kitty by OPI nail collection, just as Amber did! See the full review and swatches.

Blushing Noir – Why splurge when you can save? Check out these items from BH Cosmetics & L’OREAL that can easily sub in for high end products!

Clumps of Mascara – is helping host a fabulous giveaway that gives you the chance to score a $400 gift card to Sephora. You HAVE to enter this.

EauMG – tries to tackle her sample hoarding problem as you can see with all of her January Empties!

Gouldylox – The Urban Decay Urban Spectrum Palette is finally at Sephora…but does the new packaging make it a deal breaker? What would you do?

  1. I bought the Bobbi Brown “Everything Eyes” palette and I AM IN LOVE. Such easy colors, and creates a quick smoky eye in three sets of colors. It’s fantastic all around and was worth every penny.

  2. I have been eyeing that Hourglass palette too, but I have Dim Light currently, and for the life of me I can’t figure out what to do with it! It isn’t the right shade for highlighting, but it looks muddy/sort of dark if I try to dust it all over: HELP! My last palette was Too Faced’s Bon Bon, and I regret nothing. (Already salivating over the Too Faced Peaches palette that is coming out later this year).

  3. I love the Hourglass palette so much, I’m tempted to buy their even bigger Ambient Light Edit, too. For me, Dim Light is the big winner. @amity, the trick is to use just a tiny bit. I have a kabuki brush that picks up just enough. I use it all over, and it really does make my skin look airbrushed.
I switch to Radiant Light all over in the summer. Incandescent Light is great on top of cheekbones and on brow bones.

  4. The last palette I bought was a beast holiday palette from IT Cosmetics. I didn’t technically buy it, but I told my husband to get it for me for Christmas. It had pretty much everything except foundation and mascara–it’s an excellent travel palette! I’ve only used a few of the shadows and the highlighter, but so far so good!
