Yes To Carrots – review

I’m really starting to see and believe in the benefits of all natural products. Over the years I’ve had the privilege of trying a number of brands. I find that when I’m using natural and/or organic products, my skin looks and feels smoother and I don’t need to exfoliate as often. Plus, it’s the green thing to do. There are only a few problems with my go-green natural beauty quest; very often these items are pricey, or they can only be purchased in limited locations and in some cases, limited quantities. What’s a green girl to do? You could sing a bit of Kermit the Frog’s “It’s Not Easy Being Green” (singing out loud always helps) or you could head on out to Target or Walgreen’s or just jump on drugstore.com and discover Yes To Carrots.

The philosophy behind Yes To Carrots is to bring high quality, reasonably priced, all natural products to people everywhere. This down to earth and friendly style is evident in their simple no-frills packaging and the “just chatting” website that’s full of information. “All of the Yes To products combine the fresh, unadulterated goodness of organic fruits and vegetables with the purifying and moisturizing properties of 26 minerals harvested from the ancient world’s most renowned spa- the Dead Sea.” You’ll find the Yes To Carrots line is bursting with Beta Carotene, a natural form of Vitamin A found in orange and yellow fruits and vegetables. This wonder ingredient has anti-oxidant and anti-aging properties, helps to diminish the signs of aging (wrinkles, dark-spots, uneven tone) AND also protects skin from damage caused by the sun and pollution. Oh yeah, it also moisturizes and softens skin and hair!

Yes to Carrots entered my life a few years ago and I can honestly say it’s one of only two natural or organic brands that I religiously buy. I’ve purchased at least ½ dozen Yes To Carrots products (including body creams, face washes and lip balms) and I’m more then content with everything I’ve tried. Honestly, how can something made from organic fruits, veggies high in beta-carotene and Dead Sea minerals not have you feel like a million bucks? It can just be your secret that you spent less then $20. The other great thing about this is that almost all their products are unisex. Great for your man – not so good for you when he’s constantly “borrowing” your face cream.

Have you already said oh yeah! to the Yes To Carrots line? Make sure to check the comments for the thoughts of our we heart this review team. They’ll be talking about products including the Travel with C Body Essentials Seticon, the Hair & Scalp Mud Maskicon, the C Me Shine Red Hot Lip Glossicon and, one of my faves, the Yes To Carrots Lip Buttericon Balms.

  1. I buy items from Yes to Carrots line as it is, but hadn’t tried the lip butters until now! I received this in “Melon” and that it is! Very Melonie. For a couple bucks, I think that this is something I’ll definitely keep around. I will most likely check out their carrot, mint, and citrus too- they have 5 flavors to choose from! I like the way this feels on my lips. It’s very soothing, and I am a long time lover of shea butter and beeswax. It also has yummy coconut and olive oils, which are super duper-moisturizing along with the infamous vitamin E! It’s important to note that this company is also certified USDA Organic, which means every ingredient in it is All Natural! I heart that most of all. In addition to that, this product is not tested on our furry friends, and is paraben, petroleum and phthalate free which everyone knows is the wave of the future. So, I say a big YES to Yes To Carrots and yes you can C Me Smile with this Lip Butter

  2. I quickly scooped up the only lip gloss in the batch, the C Me Shine in Red Hot. I’ll be honest, I didn’t expect much, because along with being greedy, I’m also a bit of product snob. I know, I’m awful (in my defense, I’m very nice in other areas of my life!) But to my delightful surprise, this gloss is absolutely lovely.

The color is a sheerish metallic red, with a hint of an orange undertone. It’s very pretty and very wearable, the kind of gloss I’d recommend to someone who insists they can’t wear red. It’s also very minty, so minty it actually makes your breath feel fresh. And it’s got a really nice consistency, not sticky, just smooth and soft.

The fact that this 95% organic and under 10 bucks? It’s a 5 star product for me. You’ve impressed this snob!

  3. I tested the Citrus flavored lip butter. I have a crazy amount of lip balms, but this one has quickly become one of my favorites. It has a very light citrus scent that’s not overpowering at all. Love the consistency of it…very moisturizing. It has great staying power too! Makes my lips feel very soft. The only thing it’s lacking is SPF. I really love sunscreen in my lip balms because my lips seem to really burn in the summer without it. I normally buy lip balms with sunscreen. I would still buy this again though…just wouldn’t take it to the beach or pool.

I’m also a huge fan of their Lip Tints. My favorite color is Sunset Pink. It’s like a lip balm with added color. It smells like mint and leaves a cooling effect on your lips. I’ve been using it a lot this summer and love it!

  4. I received the Yes to Carrots Lip Butter in Carrot. I don’t exactly swoon over the the scent of carrots (in fact, I actually had some trouble remembering what they taste like), so I really didn’t know what to think when I got it. Essentially, the carrot flavor is clean and earthy – I would think it would appeal to the same people who enjoy the smell of freshly cut grass or anyone who is just sick of sickeningly sweet lip products.

I agree that the lip butter has a great consistency – I’ve tried a number of all-natural/organic lip balms that have felt unsubstantial (and a lot that have simply melted when I put them on, and not in the good way, I mean the sticks just disappeared)! But the Say Yes to Carrots Lip Butter has a consistency similar to lots of lip balms that don’t worry about being organic.

And, of course, the lip butter works very well! It’s not the absolute best I’ve tried, but certainly the best organic option I’ve tried in this price range. I definitely plan on keeping one of these in my purse!

  5. I adore the yes To Carrots line – my favorite product to far is the C thru the Dry Spell Body Butter – the scent is very fresh and creamy, the butter is super moisturizing, it comes in a big old tub and it’s so cheap!

Being a minty balm girl, I reviewed the C Me Smile Lip Balm in Mint. This was my first balm from YTC and I was, al always, very pleased. The balm is super soothing (with just a hint of tingle) and long lasting. It also cleared my chapped lips and flakey skin with in hours (seriously – hours).

For the quality of the products, the truly natural and organic aspects, the wide availability and the incredible price, I’m giving this 5 stars!

  6. I tried Yes to Carrots C Me Smile Lip Butter (Berry scent). It’s in a Chap-Stick-y type container. Maybe it’s just me…but I couldn’t get the plastic sheath off the product. Probably just me. After struggling for a few minutes, I was finally able to open the product. A nice, subtle scent was noted. The product had a very smooth feel on the lips, not waxy at all.

The fact that it is certified organic and not tested on animals is a definite bonus.

I really liked this product and would definitely buy it again. I give it a 5 out of 5, even though I couldn’t get the wrapper off!!! I know I’m a dork…but I don’t need the products that I use to remind me of it!!! ;)

  7. I’m so happy to hear about all their products! I love their hand scrub and hand cream and am now anxious to try their other goodies! & Stef, any lip product you give 5 stars to I know I have to have!!! :) I’m getting the C Me Shine for sure!

  8. I’ve been traveling the last few days and haven’t been able to get online, otherwise i would of been the first to review this product. I recieved the Yes To Carrots hair and scalp moisturizer. As others know, i have a really dry scalp (not dandruff!) i think its from the years and years of coloring my hair finally catching up. The shampoo i use works, but its not very fun so when i recieved this i was pretty excited to try it. I did and i love it. I followed the directions and even left it on longer then they said to. I really worked it into my scalp with my finger tips, and added more to the areas i know i tend to have problems with. After washing it out and shampooing my hair, my scalp almost felt like it was cooled, you could feel it working right away and that feeling lasted for days afterwards. It made my hair much softer, not oily like a lot of those moisturizers tend to do. I would recommend and will be buying this again for sure. On top of everything the price is right!

  9. lip butters are amazing

  10. I was at the local Walgreens yesterday and as I was going thru the beauty isle I was the YES TO carrots product line. I purchased the C Me Smile Lip Butter in Melon and I love it. I was sort of hesitant initially but the price is affordable. I have been a chapstick user for 20 years with at least 20 applications or something insane per day and I have to say I love this product I might just have to make a total switch. Since I am so pleased with the lip butter I think I will venture out and get some other products. I have a thyroid condition and my hair has been falling out like mad lately. I will give the shampoo a try and come back and leave a review about the product. So for right now I say ” Yes to Carrots” !!!

  11. Hi Addison! – The Yes To Carrots are great aren’t they?! There’s nothing so great as finding a new, great lip product at such a great price – and natural on top of it? Score! Sorry to hear about you condition – I hope you find some products that help – check out shampoos/conditioners etc that claim to be “voluminzing” sometimes they really help add some thickness to my fine hair.

  12. Hi I just used the yes to carrots body butter c through the dry spell.., blue veins vividly showed up all over the parts i just applied it.. it was quite freaky to be honest i rang my friend who also uses the product and she said that she noticed she had become very “veiney” recently but never made the connection..anyone else have that kind of adverse reaction..maybe the cream was too strong for me??

  13. rynagh mc nally says:

I bought the yes to carrots c through the night moisturizing cream and had quite a severe reaction so i certainly wouldnt be recommending it to anyone.
I have very sensitive skin and would have had reactions to other beauty products in the past but because this is supposed to be organic i never thought i would have an allergic reaction to this and such a bad one too. wont be buying anymore of the range again either.

  14. After reading all the reviews for this product line, I was so excited. I couldn’t wait to go buy high quality skin care that was organic yet affordable. I must say, however, how disappointed I was to find out that the products that I was most excited to buy contained Propylene Glycol. Seriously? Of ALL ingredients, why that one? I understand that there are going to be SOME ingredients that aren’t organic, but I wont let that stuff within 10 feet of my face. So, unfortunately, I didn’t get to buy the day cream, night cream, makeup remover, or the eye contour cream. I did get the body butter because it didn’t contain the PG….but I’m really bummed out. I think I’ll try some of the Yes to Cucumbers or Yes to Tomatoes stuff, most of their stuff was PG free.

    1. Well i guess they considered Propylene Glycol all natural because it’s an organic compound.

  15. Jamie, I agree with you there. I don’t know how a company can promote themselves as natural and have propylene glycol in their product.

Anyway, I just found the Yes to Carrots shampoo and conditioner at Ross (my favorite store) for $2.99 each and I grabbed them up…upon closer review of the ingredients, I read it has fragrance. That word alone can be 1000s of chemicals! I am very selective when it comes to using beauty products. I will only use things with ingredients I can pronounce and identify. Not sure if I am going to use these products or return them…

  16. I bought the yes to carrots night moisturiser. I had a very bad reaction to it, my skin looked like I’d been severely suburnt and it took hours to wear off. I was disappointed as normally I do not have reactions to products designed for dry skin.
