Hair Must Haves Ouai Living Proof Kevin Murphy

That and more in The Lipstick League, week of 8.28.17

Question of the Week: What hair products are you loving right now, and why?

Answer: I have three current hair must haves…

• I was so interested in the Ouai Dry Shampoo Foam ($28 for 5.3 oz) because dry shampoo powders can be so messy, but aerosols don’t clean as well. Could foam be the answer? In a word; YES! The thick mousse stays where you put it, it cleans hair, freshens and gives volume, all without water. It’s magical.

• While I don’t like aerosols for dry shampoo, I love them for heat protectants. They provide the perfect amount of product and don’t wet the hair like pumps can. Living Proof Restore Instant Protection ($26 for 5.5 oz) is perfect. It protects, adds shine and removes static. I have yet to meet a Living Proof product I don’t like!

• My hairdresser turned me on to Kevin Murphy. And since she’s the only one who has EVER understood my bangs (this is a real issue, people) I tend to believe every recommendation she makes. “Want a spritz of Bedroom Hair? she asked after a recent bang trim. “It will add texture to your waves. And it smells like strawberry milk!” She was right, again. Don’t call it a hairspray. Call it the “lived in hair must have.”

And by the way, if you need someone in LA who will understand your bangs, give Jessie Rae at Washed Out Salon a call!

  1. I’ve been loving everything from Briogeo lately. Their Rosarco Milk leave-in conditioner is magical, their Blossom & Bloom volumizing spray gives volume and smells fabulous, and their Don’t Despair, Repair! conditioning mask is a game changer. My hair has been really temperamental lately and these products have kept me presentable. Love!!!
