we’re glad someone paid attention in chem class…
I have never been what you would call a straight ‘A’ or even much of a ‘B’ student in the sciences. But that has never stopped me from having a healthy respect and a bit of an adoration for science nerds. They are more than just cute (love the glasses)! They advance medicine, take us to outer space, and now our beloved nerds are even looking out for the hair on our heads! I initially experienced the wonders of hair science last year, when the wht team first tested the science-driven styling products from their highly lauded No Frizz system.
Today, we’re checking Living Proof’s No Frizz Shampoo and No Frizz Conditioner ($24 each). My entire life, I have lived with difficult curly hair that always seems to be misbehaving. I am cursed with crazy, coarse, and frizzy hair all year long. I seem to have a little cloud of humidity that follows me around, regardless of the season.
I have purchased countless bottles of shampoo and conditioner, all promising to banish frizz and whip my hair into shape. Needless to say, I have wasted a lot of money with very little pay-off. I honestly didn’t know where to turn next, that is, until I tried Living Proof’s No Frizz Shampoo and Conditioner.
The makers of No Frizz Shampoo and Conditioner utilize the same anti-frizz technology as in their stylers—getting rid of the frizz by blocking the humidity, all without adding additional weight to hair. Scientific miracle or heading for a place in the back of your closet? Here are my Pros and Cons…
Pros:
• No Frizz Shampoo and Conditioner have given me my best hair month ever. I have never had more compliments on my hair’s appearance, seriously!
• They tell the truth, I have experienced no frizz to speak of while using this shampoo and conditioner.
• My curls have become much more manageable, more defined and bouncy while using No Frizz. I am also experiencing fewer tangles, and my hair has never been softer, shinier, or smoother.
• It’s very gentle for color-treated hair, containing no silicones and no sulfates.
• I can go an extra day without shampooing with my hair still looking fairly fresh.
Cons:
• While I love the sleek gray test tube looking packaging, I hate the flip-top lids on these bottles. Maybe I’m clumsy, but mine have always fell off or broke.
• The price – in this economy, it is tough to shell out $24 each for your shampoo and conditioner.

This is how much I love Living Proof’s No Frizz Shampoo and Conditioner: as soon as I used up my tester bottles, I flew to the beauty supply store and bought a larger size of each. Yes, they’re more expensive than drugstore products, but you will never get these results at the drugstore. Instead of my usual struggle with humidity, my hair is shiny and frizz-free even when I let it air dry. And I can blow my hair out straight in less time with better results. Now that you mention it, I can even skip a day between shampoos and my hair still looks good.
I’ve been wondering if the magic was going to wear off, but I’m still reaching for No Frizz day after day. You’re right, @kellie76 – let’s hear it for the science nerds! 5 stars!
I totally still give them 5 stars as well! I really just wish that the brand was more affordable. But I guess that sometimes you just need to pay for quality this great! :)
If you’re plagued with frizz, you NEED this duo. My hair is really thick, and any amount of moisture poofs it up instantly. Especially just after showering. So much so, that I have to strategically plan showers around events. My friends always laugh at me that I have to shower the night before a big event. But otherwise, I’m guaranteed to have to spend a ton of time on my hair trying to de-frizz.
I can’t tell you what a time saver this shampoo and conditioner is! I get out of the shower, I blow dry and I have sleek hair, without a ton of extra product and without a flat iron. It’s pretty amazing.
$24 is expensive, but I’m ok with it. I’ve just given in to the fact that I have to pay a bit more for my hair products (I think anyone with “issues” does). And I’d rather skip a couple of coffees for hair that doesn’t make me want to cry.
I wish the scent was a bit more exciting. It’s ok, just a typical standard shampoo smell. I personally like hair products that have a bit more lushness to their scent.
I can’t give this duo anything but 5 stars, it does exactly what it says it will!
Okay, remember how I shaved my head around this time last year? Well, that means just one thing- we’re heading into the humidity of summer and I’ve got Lil’ Orphan Annie hair…. Ick!
Being a curly girl with short hair can be dangerous- too much product and I have flat, lifeless hair. Too little product and I have frizzy crazy hair. It’s a daily hit-and-miss. But once Living Proof No Frizz shampoo and conditioner entered my routine it has been much more hit than miss!
Living Proof leaves my hair bouncy and shiny but tame. It’s amazing! I need sooooo much less product even on the rainiest of days. Now my hair is looking more shaggy-cool than Orphan Annie. Woohoo!
The only things I don’t like about it- the price and the smell. I find the scent a little too cloying and fake first thing in the AM. It’s nothing that would make me stop using it, but it’s a peeve. And the price? Well, I’m jobless. $24 for shampoo or conditioner is a bit much.
Overall I give the product 4 stars. If the scent was better I would probably give it 5, because even with the price being so high the quality and results are worth it.
I have loved some hair products from this nerdy line already! But have yet to try the No Frizz Shampoo and Conditioner. Which makes me also glad to know that this is Chic Week at Sephora.. 15% off Everything for beauty insiders, in case you all didn’t know already! I’ll gladly check out this duo for sure! Great review @kellie76
$24 is pretty spendy, but if you’re getting that many compliments, it’s worth it!
I have the worst frizz! And the humidity in the summer pretty much means it’s an endless battle. Based on the pros the $24 may be worth it. This sounds great!
I’ve used Living Proof’s styling cream last year and LOVED it, so I might have to give this a try. The price scares me off, as does the lid issues (my styling cream developed the same problem before it was gone) but if it works, it works!
After you guys talked a while ago about this brand and how great it is I run to Sephora and spend >$70 and got it all…shampoo, conditioner, cream. For me, it was a complete waste of money. The shampoo was runny and it barely lathered and the conditioner seemed moisturizing while ten hair was wet but when it dried….oh my! Frizzy, kinky straws…Sadly, I had better results with Dove.
I have the regular wavy, frizzy, normal/medium thickness hair. Nothing out of the ordinary. Glad it worked for some but I’d say go with a sample first before spending that much on the full size bottles (which, by the way are minuscule for the price).
Just my 2 cents
This stuff works. I live in San Antonio, Texas where it’s almost a desert, it has not rained since September and we’re two hours from the beach, so the amount of humidity we have here is just for no reason at all. This shampoo and conditioner combo makes a difference. I tried the styling cream when we reviewed it last year and it does OK, but the shampoo and conditioner gives me the really straight, sleek, smooth hair I could never acheive on my own. five stars.
I’m a frizzy mess, so I think I’ll give this one a try. I’ve just run out of my latest Sephora shampoo splurge (Alterna Caviar) – which was awesome and even more expensive than this. I just can’t go back to a drugstore shampoo now after getting such great results, but I’d like to cut the price down a little at least, so I’m going to check this brand out. Thanks for the intro to it!
