That and more in The Lipstick League, week of 4.18.16

Question of the Week: In honor of Prince, share with us your all-time favorite purple makeup product (and your all-time favorite Prince song).

Answer: The world lost a legend last week. And after the death of David Bowie only months ago, I feel like someone is lifting the needle up from the soundtrack of my life. It’s silly, but somehow comforting; I wore two bright purple lipsticks with pride all weekend. Second from left is the new Urban Decay Mad Hatter from the Through the Looking Glass launch. And second from right is a limited edition MAC cremesheen called Feel my Pulse. It reminded me of Prince even when it was launched!

As for my favorite Prince song, I love Controversy, 1999 and Raspberry Beret. But I really can’t give any other answer than Purple Rain. It’s one of the most soulful and powerful songs ever.

Here’s what happened with The League last week…

Gouldylox – Someone convinced me to see if I could do my makeup after celebrating 420. Never one to ignore a challenge, I gave it my all…

My Beauty Bunny – I love the spring! Not just for the flowers and sunshine, but for the MAKEUP. Check out my Spring 2016 Cruelty Free Beauty Faves.

My Newest Addiction – Exfoliation is a big deal around this time of year when everyone is baring their skin for Spring and Summer. Laura is sharing some of her favorite Natural Facial Exfoliants!

Nouveau Cheap – Are you a fan of CoverGirl, Katy Perry, or matte lipsticks? If your answer is “yes” to any one of those, then you might want to check out the upcoming CoverGirl Katy Perry Katy Kat Matte Lipstick Collection (available now for pre-order with free shipping).

Olive & Ivy – This five minute makeup look is perfect for those super rushed mornings!

Phyrra – Come explore Urban Decay’s Alice Through the Looking Glass Collection!

Prime Beauty – has Australia on her bucket list. Until she can tolerate the 23 hour flight, she will just have to settle for the new Cargo Cosmetics Land Down Under Eyeshadow Palette!

we heart this – If you have rosacea or sensitive skin, Stef shows you two game changing products you won’t want to be without (and you can find them at the drugstore!)

Beautygeeks – talks to an industry pro about her top makeup tips for when seasonal allergies mean-girl you.

Blushing Noir – It won’t be long before the MAC x Brooke Candy Collection is released but you can ENTER TO WIN a lipstick now!

Clumps of Mascara – It doesn’t get any better than natural, right? Follow me and dive into the beauty that are these homemade soaps, bars and potions in a quaint little soaperie here in Orlando, Florida.

EauMG – loves a cheap thrill! And here’s a cheapie perfume by Yves Rocher that smells like pretty pink spring blossoms!

(Wondering what the Lipstick League is? Find out here.)

Gouldylox is Currently Craving: I’m seriously craving a glistening, easy summer eye. Think a smudge of shimmer and a little messy mascara… I think the Platinum Tom Ford Cream Color shadow would be sheer perfection.

we heartsters, share with us your all-time favorite purple makeup product (and your all-time favorite Prince song).

  1. “I feel like someone is lifting the needle up from the soundtrack of my life.”–what a sadly beautiful line, and so apropos! It’s hard to pick a favorite song, but I’m especially partial to his original “Nothing Compares 2 U.” My purple pick is Bite’s Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Spritzer.

  2. NARS Audacious Lipstick in Dominique.. I’m fair toned and can wear it!
“Purple Rain” is my favorite song,as it really is a great sing-a-long while you drive with a carful of people! That’s all I want to do is sing that song now!
I heard this news come across the radio while driving, I nearly crashed my car! Such a huge loss… RIP Prince!
